Violet Night | 1440p/100hz Gaming PC

Short System Description, Long System Description, Hardware Selection Reasons

Short System Description

Violet Night is an air cooled gaming computer designed for 1440p 100hz gaming. This system has a blackout theme, with several components chosen specifically for this effect. This build is designed around an 8-core i7-9700K processor and an RTX 2070 8GB video card.

Long System Description

Violet Night was our 29th build, several years into running the business. At this point, I’d gained a good handle on lead generation and overall marketing.

Andrea and I connected on Google in Spring 2019. She had already compiled a draft design of what she had in existing parts, and what she wanted performance-wise.

Over the next few days, we figured out what she needed in the PC performance-wise and catered to her personal wishes.

I have no doubt Andrea will return to us when she needs a new high-end gaming computer.

Hardware Selection Reasons

Processor (CPU): Intel i7-9700K

I chose this processor for the high single-core performance, especially for driving 1440p games.

While AMD was more budget-friendly, Andrea preferred the higher performance of Intel.

CPU Cooler: Phanteks PH-TC12DX_BK

I chose this CPU cooler for the excellent cooling performance of air. While water does cool better, air is more reliable, and this cooler also runs extremely quietly.

This cooler also looks nice in the case, making for a very sleek interior. Andrea agreed with the visual design, and understood my explanation of the reliability advantage.

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Pro

I chose this motherboard for socket compatibility and robust design. Gigabyte is also one of my preferred motherboard manufacturers.

Andrea agreed with the visual design, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 2x8GB DDR4-2666

I chose this memory kit for motherboard compatibility and robust design. Corsair is also one of my preferred memory manufacturers.

Andrea needed 16GB of memory for her workflow, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Storage (SSD): Crucial MX100 512GB

This was an existing SSD that Andrea wanted to reuse.

Storage (SSD): Crucial MX500 1TB

I chose this SSD for robust design, high capacity, fast access times, and low cost. When Violet Night was built, SSDs were very cheap, allowing us to use a 1TB model for general storage. Crucial is also one of my preferred SSD manufacturers.

Andrea didn’t need more SSD space, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Video Card (GPU): EVGA RTX 2070 8GB XC Gaming

I chose this GPU for long-term performance at 1440p/100hz, and robust design.

Andrea understood my explanation of the build quality.

Power Supply (PSU): EVGA SuperNOVA P2 1200

I chose this PSU for wattage, robust design, and long-term stability.

Andrea wanted a gaming computer that would last, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Case: Fractal Design Define R6 USB-C Tempered Glass Blackout

I chose this case for robust design, airflow, visual theme, and long-term stability.

Andrea wanted a gaming computer that would last, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Fans: 7x Corsair ML120 Pro Black

I chose these fans for robust design, airflow, static pressure, visual theme, low-noise operation, and long-term stability.

Andrea wanted a gaming computer that would last, and understood my explanation of the build quality.
