Godzilla Gaming PC Overview
Processor (CPU): Intel Core i9-9900K
We chose the i9-9900K for its extreme performance in games, due to it’s industry-best single-core performance. While not very price-conscious, it is widely accepted as the best gaming CPU on the market. In 4K resolution, a large chunk of the processing weight shifts to the GPU, and the i9-9900K provides enough horsepower to power through most games, and properly feed data to the video card. This provides a very stable platform for a multi-year gaming system.
CPU Cooler: EK-Velocity RGB - Nickel + Plexi
Due to the i9-9900K tending to run hot, and the fact that we’re integrating a dual independent custom loop into this build, we've selected a very good aftermarket CPU water block. Water has a higher specific heat than air does, and thus cools much better. It can hold more heat energy per volume, thus moving more heat away from the source. Using water cooling allows you to push your CPU harder, while maintaining the same thermals, or run the CPU at the same settings, with lower noise (and still good thermals).
Motherboard: Asus ROG MAXIMUS XI EXTREME
We chose a high-quality Z390 series motherboard for robust performance and long-term reliability. Asus is a very good manufacturer of motherboards, and while this motherboard is very expensive, it provides an extremely robust long-term platform for the i9-9900K. Because of our multiple high-end video cards, this Z390 model does support multiple video cards via SLI and CrossFire. This motherboard has excellent power delivery, a simple visual design, two PCI 3.0 slots, support for multiple M2 NVME drives, and up to 64GB of memory.
Memory (RAM): Corsair Dominator Platinum 4x16GB DDR4-3466
We went with 64GB of Dominator Platinum memory due to the extremely high quality of the internal chips. This setup will give the user plenty of room for open applications.
Storage (Hard Drives): Samsung 970 EVO 2TB NVME SSD + 4x Samsung 860 EVO 4TB SATA SSD
The SSDs were chosen for their high capacity, high speed, and high reliability.
Video Card (GPU): 2x EVGA RTX 2080Ti 11GB XC GAMING
The video cards were chosen for their large memory capacity, ample CUDA cores, RT cores, Tensor cores and support for 4K resolution. These video cards will be placed in their own independent custom liquid cooling loop, and will prevent any sort of thermal throttling from taking place.
Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 1000D
The case was chosen for its high build quality, room for plenty of high-end hardware, and incredible amount of cooling potential.
Fans: 18x Corsair HD120 RGB
We have selected a full set of high-quality pressure-optimized fans to ensure sufficient airflow in the case to keep the system stable under heavy load. Having high quality fans also means less noise, even when the fans are spinning at high RPM.
Power Supply: Corsair 1600W 80+ Titanium
The power supply was chosen for its high build quality, ample power capacity, and respectable thermal efficiency. A higher wattage PSU than necessary will also prolong the life of the unit, as it isn't being operated near peak load. Using a high quality power supply means better power delivery, and cleaner power. Messy power can result in a system failure, corruption of data, or even a hardware crash.
