Short System Description

Pegasus is a liquid cooled hybrid workstation capable of 4K gaming, some video editing, and general school work. This build is designed around a 6-core i7-8700K processor and an RTX 2070 8GB video card.

Long System Description

Pegasus 27 was our 39th build, several years into running the business. At this point, I’d gained a good handle on lead generation and overall marketing.

William and I connected on Google in Winter 2018. Once the holidays were done, we quickly figured out what he needed in the PC performance-wise and catered to his personal wishes.

I have no doubt William will return to us when he needs a new high-end workstation.

“Great experience with Top Flight Computers and specifically Chris that owns the company. Contacted Top Flight around the holidays and was quick responded back to after their holiday closure.

Chris took all the info that I gave him and was able to get me a quote and parts list. They were very flexible with changes that I wanted to make after an original quote was given.

After computer was built, Chris went over how to open and how to do simple maintenance on the machine. Things have run smoothly and it’s a great machine.

Took just about a week from order parts to complete build.”

Hardware Selection Reasons

Processor (CPU): Intel i7-8700K

I chose this processor for the high single-core and multi-core performance, especially for 4K gaming and video editing.

While AMD was more budget-friendly, William preferred the higher performance of Intel.

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i Pro RGB

I chose this CPU cooler for the excellent cooling performance of water. While air is more reliable, water cools better and runs quieter.

This cooler also looks nice in the case, making for a very sleek interior. William agreed with the visual design, and understood my explanation of the reliability of high-end water coolers.

Motherboard: MSI Z370-A PRO

I chose this motherboard for socket compatibility and robust design. MSI is also one of my preferred motherboard manufacturers.

William agreed with the visual design, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-2133

I chose this memory kit for motherboard compatibility and robust design. Corsair is also one of my preferred memory manufacturers.

William needed 16GB of memory for his workflow, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Storage (SSD): Crucial MX500 1TB

I chose this SSD for robust design, high capacity, fast access times, and low cost. When Pegasus was built, SSDs were very cheap, allowing us to use a 1TB model for OS, programs, and general storage. Crucial is also one of my preferred SSD manufacturers.

William didn’t need more SSD space, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Storage (HDD): Seagate Barracuda 2TB

I chose this HDD for robust design, high capacity, and low cost. Seagate is also one of my preferred HDD manufacturers.

William didn’t need more space for archival storage, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Video Card (GPU): EVGA RTX 2070 8GB XC Gaming

I chose this GPU for long-term performance, 4K gaming performance, and robust design.

William understood my explanation of the build quality.

Power Supply (PSU): EVGA 650W GQ

I chose this PSU for wattage, robust design, and long-term stability.

William wanted a gaming computer that would last, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Case: NZXT H500 White

I chose this case for robust design, airflow, and long-term stability.

William wanted a gaming computer that would last, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Fans: 4x Phanteks PH-F120MP

I chose these fans for robust design, airflow, static pressure, low-noise operation, and long-term stability.

William wanted a gaming computer that would last, and understood my explanation of the build quality.
