Short System Description

Overwolf is an extremely high end liquid cooled 4K gaming computer. This build uses a heavy dose of RGB fans to create a unique visual theme that is completely customizable. This build is designed around an 8-core i9-9900K processor and an RTX 2080Ti 11GB video card.

 
 

Long System Description

Overwolf was our 32nd build, several years into running the business. At this point, I’d gained a good handle on lead generation and overall marketing.

John and I connected on Google in Summer 2018. He contacted me about building a bunch of parts that he had already acquired, as he was low on free time and wanted it professionally built.

I have no doubt John will return to us when he needs a new high-end gaming computer.

Hardware Selection Reasons

Processor (CPU): Intel i9-9900K

John chose this processor for the superior performance in gaming.

While Ryzen 2000 did have a more attractive ratio between speed, threads, and price, John wanted something that was well-known and would do well across the board.

John understood that needing more CPU threads down the road would require a new motherboard as well.

CPU Cooler: Corsair H150i PRO RGB

John chose this CPU cooler for the excellent cooling performance of water. While air is more reliable, water cools better and runs quieter.

This cooler also looks nice in the case, making for a very sleek interior. John agreed with the visual design, and understood my explanation of the reliability of high-end water coolers.

Motherboard: Asus MAXIMUS XI FORMULA

John chose this motherboard for socket compatibility and robust design. Asus is also one of my preferred motherboard manufacturers.

Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 4x8GB DDR4-3200

John chose this memory kit for motherboard compatibility and robust design. Corsair is also one of my preferred memory manufacturers.

John needed 32GB of memory for his workflow, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Storage (SSD): Samsung 970 Evo 1TB NVME

John chose this SSD for robust design, high capacity, fast access times, and low cost. When Overwolf was built, SSDs were very cheap, allowing us to use a 1TB model for OS, programs, and general storage. Samsung is also one of my preferred SSD manufacturers.

John didn’t need more SSD space, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Storage (HDD): Toshiba X300 6TB

John chose this HDD for robust design, high capacity, and low cost.

John didn’t need more space for archival storage, and understood my explanation of the build quality.

Video Card (GPU): EVGA RTX 2080Ti 11GB FTW3

John chose this GPU for long-term performance and robust design.

Power Supply (PSU): EVGA SuperNOVA G2 1300

John chose this PSU for wattage, robust design, and long-term stability.
